5 Things to do in Laylat al-Qadr of Ramadan

Laylat al-Qadr that is also called the night of Power is described in Holy Quran as ‘better than thousand other months’. Any action done on this blessed night such as remembering Allah Almighty, reciting Quran etc is better than doing same actions on other thousand months which do not have the night of Qadr. Hazrat Aisha RA narrated that Hazrat Muhammad SAW said:

Look for Laylat al-Qadr on an odd-numbered night during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

He also said that a person who prays during this night of power with faith and hoping for its reward will have all of his previous sins forgiven. Here are these things which we can do on Laylat al Qadr :

  • Take Vacation For Allah

We take off from our schools, jobs for almost everything in life. So, why cannot we take this time off to focus on worshipping and thanking our Creator. If it is not possible then at least take a break of few days. This can make it easier for you to stay awake at late nights to do extra ibadaah and you also do not have to worry about getting early next morning for work.

  • Do Iteqaaf

It was a practice of Hazrat Muhammad SAW to spend last 10 days and nights of Ramadan in mosque for Iteqaaf. People who devout their time to Iteqaaf stays in mosque all the time and perform several forms of zikar such as studying and reciting Holy Quran and performing extra Salat.

Those people cannot go outside the mosque except in case of any emergencies. Itekaaf for a shorter period of time like a day or couple of days or just for one night is also encouraged.

  • Make this Special Dua

Hazrat Aisha RA said that Holy Prophet PBUH used to say whenever you know that what night is the night of Qadr then, make this special dua:

‘O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.'

  • Recite Holy Quran

Select passages or Surah from Holy Quran which you have heard in last year’s Taraweeh and recite them. In case you attend a class where therecitation of Holy Quran is taught then it is a best time to put your knowledge into practice.

  • To do List for Night of Power

Make to do list for every night of power. This should define how you would like to spend that blessed night. Pick things from this checklist and define a sequence according to which you would like to do things. This will help you saving your time and you can devout your more time for Allah Almighty.
