Happiness comes when we connect with Allah SWT sincerely. Islam being a complete code of life taught us the solutions to be away from depression and live a joyful life. Depression is the state of mind that makes people sad. It is a condition that affects the youth of this era all over the world. Spiritual healing through Dua, Quran and helping others can keep us away from depression. Following are the most productive and practical ways of rising above the trials of depression:

  1. Ask Refugee from Allah SWT

Dua is a solution of all our problems. Allah SWT loves us more than seventy mothers. How can He not listen to us when we are in trouble and asking for protection from depression and anxiety. It is stated in the Holy Quran that:

‘O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being over powered by men.’

  1. Recite Surah Naas, Surah E Falak and Al-Mu’awwidhatayn

Depression is an internal feeling of self-doubt and thinking of yourself low in esteem. Depression is mainly an attack from Satan. It is nothing but the deceptive whisperings from Satan. If one reads the meaning of Surah Al Naas then he will come to know that it is the best prayer for protection from the whispering of Satan. The Messenger of Allah said that:

“Do you not see that there have been Ayat revealed to me tonight the like of which has not been seen before. They are “Say: “I seek refuge with, the Lord of Al-Falaq.” (Surah Al-Falaq 113:1) and “Say: “I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind.’(Surah An-Naas 114:1))

Reciting this Surah will safeguard you from depression and change your mood whenever you start having feelings of self-doubt. So try to make a habit of reciting these small verses of the Holy Quran as the Messenger of Allah also used to recite these chapters when He used to lie down for sleep. Fighting depression is not that easy. However, these tips will surely help you in getting rid of it and overcome it.
