Bid’ah (Innovation/ Creativity) in Islam-Part II

Types of Bid’ah

There are two type of Bid’ah:

  •  Heretical Doctrine (Doctrinal Bid’ah)
  •  Heretical Action (Practical Bid’ah)

Heretical Doctrine:

Such false belief which created after the revealed life of Holly Prophet (S.A.W). As there are various false believes that:

“Allah (SWT) can utter lie” or “There can be another apostle after Holly Prophet (S.A.W)” or “The perception of Holly Prophet (S.A.W) is worse than the notion of ox, ass etc “. (Naoozbillah min zalik)

Heretical Action:

It has two types:

  • Bid’at.e.hasanah
  • Bid’at.e.Siah

Bid’at.e.Hasanah:

Such a novel action which is neither against Sunnah nor eradicate or violate Sunnah. As establishing a Milad Shareef or Gyarhwen and Urs of saints etc.

Types of Bid’at.e.Hasanah: There are further three types of Bid’at.e.Hasanah:

(a) Bid’at.e.Mibah (Permissible)

(b) Bid’at.e.Mustahibah (Appreciable)

(c) Bid’at.e.Wajibah (Essential)

(a) Bid’at.e.Mibah (Permissible):

Such a novel action which is not against Shari’ah and without prosperous intention. Such as celebrating Independence Day of Pakistan. Illuminating on Marriages etc.

(b) Bid’at.e.Mustahibah (Appreciable):

Such a new deed which is not against Shari’ah and with the good intention and people consider it as a bliss. As celebrating Milad gathering, narration of Companions of Prophet (S.A.W), establishing religious congregations, illuminating and embellishing mosques etc.

(c) Bid’at.e.Wajibah (Essential):

Such a novel action which is not against Shari’ah and by quitting the Muslims suffer in loss. As putting circumflex (Aa’raab) on Quran, establishment of religious institution, commemoration of Gram-mer/ Syntax (Sarf.o.Nahv) education etc.

(ii) Bid’at.e.Siah:

Such a novel action which is against Sunnah and eradicate any Sunnah. As wearing pent shirt, buffet meal etc.

Types of Bid’at.e.Siah: 

There are three types of Bid’at.e.Siah:

(a) Bid’at.e.Makrooh Tanzehi (Abominable)

(b) Bid’at.e. Makrooh Tahreemi (Amenable)

(c) Bid’at.e. Haraam (Prohibited)

(a) Bid’at.e.Makrooh Tanzehi (Abominable):

Such a novel action which is against Sunnah and eradicate any Irregular Sunnah Practice (Ghair-Muakkidah Sunnat). Such as bare head or buffet meal etc.

(b) Bid’at.e. Makrooh Tahreemi (Amenable):

Such a novel action which is against Sunnah and eradicate any Essential Sunnah Practice (Muakkidah Sunnat). As razor beard or shorten it than a fist.

(c) Bid’at.e. Haraam (Prohibited):

Such a novel action which is against Sunnah and eradicate any Compulsory Sunnah Practice (Wajib Sunnat). As watching movies or drama, prostate shrines or beating drums at shrines of saints etc.

Conclusion

Conclusion of this discussion is that every Bid’at is not bad as certain sects thought else no one can escape from it even those who disclaim it because they practice many such action which have no proof  in Quran and Hadith. Therefore, it has proven that some innovations are of worth consideration and they get rewarded by acting upon as it is narrated by a Hadith earlier.
