2 Great Virtues of Itikaf in Ramadan

Ramadan is the blessed month of innumerable blessings and mercy. From the day this holy month begins, it aims at providing Muslims all over the world the best chance and an opportunity to seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty for their sins. It provides us the way to move closer to Allah SWT.This devotion and we Muslims devout to it reaches to its highest level during the last 10 days of Ramadan. The reason of this increase devotion is that we know this holy month is going to end and we have no idea whether we will be able to see it next year or not.

Standout ritual of the last days of this blessed month is the Sunnah of Itekaf. It is a ritual in which we spend these days in isolation and in this isolation, all we do is pray to Allah SWT for His blessings and forgiveness. Following are these virtues of Itekaf in last ten days of Ramadan:

Increased Reward

Biggest virtue of Itikaf in the month of Ramadan is the great rewards it brings with it. There is no denying the fact that any act of virtue and piety we do in Ramadan has greater rewards compared to othermonths of Islamic calendar. Howbeit, the reward and blessings increase exponentially when these last 10 days of Ramadan are spent in Iteqaf. Holy Prophet PBUH said in one of his Hadiths that:

“He who observes the ten days Itikaf during Ramadan will obtain the reward of two Hajj and two Umrah.”

Protection From Hell

Another reason why should we feel lucky for this holy month of Ramadan is the fact that it provides us a chance to ask Allah Almighty for Hisforgiveness. This seeking of forgiveness from Allah SWT protects us from the fire of Hell, which we might deserve because of the sins we, commit in our daily life. Therefore, it is essential that we Muslims perform such acts that guarantee protection from the Hell fire. Holy Prophet PBUH said in this hadith that:

“Whosoever for Allah’s sake did even one day Itikaf, Allah would keep him away from Jahannam by trenches.” (Tabarani)

This blessed month of Ramadan is one of the greatest blessings that we Muslims receive in an Islamic calendar. Within this month, virtues of Itikaf are also one of the greatest advantages and a source of blessings and mercy from Allah Almighty that can help us seek forgiveness for our sins.
